The Wedding Date Book Review

Writer's picture: Kendra's CornerKendra's Corner

The Wedding Date by: Jasmine Guillory, is a cute Contemporary Romance novel about a woman, Alexa, and a man, Drew, meeting in a hotel elevator. When it gets stuck on the way up to their separate rooms, that's when conversation, and a bit of flirting takes place. Before they part in the hallway Drew asks her to be his date for his ex's wedding that weekend, and she agrees to go. Love is in the air with this chick flick novel.

My thoughts:

This novel is the perfect light-hearted summer read, whether you are in your favorite reading chair, in a hammock, or by the beach. It is a quick and easy weekend read. I really enjoyed this book, and recommend it for anyone who is looking forward to a nice and fun romance novel.

The parts I wasn't a big fan of was the writing style, the writing was more juvenile than I would've liked. The main characters, Alexa and Drew, are in their early thirties, but they act like this is their very first relationship and they are teenagers again. I understand in their past they weren't the best in relationships, but being in their early thirties I expected them to be a little more mature, and secure with themselves. I also thought the conflicts were childish at times, or just there for the sake of being a conflict to move the story forward. Other than those slight issues with the novel, as a whole it was an enjoyable read and getting past the eye rolling part is worth the ride these two characters go on, as they discover each other and where they want to be in the future. It is an adult book, so there are some steamy scenes;

I wouldn't recommend people under the age of 18 to read it, or people who don't like those scenes in their books.

If you have read the book, let me know what you thought about it in the comment section below. Have a wonderful day. :)
