I got this in the mail two weeks ago, sorry for the delay. Let's dive right in.
Book of the Month is a monthly book subscription where you can choose up to three books a month. Each month their panel of judges picks five new relases they loved for you to choose from. If you don't like all of them to choose three you can pick one and then you can select two more from other months or even other titles that are on the "add on" list. If you can't afford to do it one month you can skip the month. The monthly fee is $14.99 and then the additional books are $9.99 for full size hard back books. Most hard backs start at $20.00 and can be as much as $50, sometimes more. With this subscription you are saving money on newly released hard back books. I think it's a good deal.
The books I selected for this month are The Golden Hour by: Beatrize Williams, which is coming out July 9th and Golden State by: Ben H. Winters.
The Golden Hour is about an investigative reporter, Leonora, who is in the Bahamas, 1941 to report on the governor and his wife, but she stumbles onto some secrets about the British royal couple that should've stayed buried. I thought it sounded like a good drama for the summer mixed with spies, mystery, intrigue, murder and romance. I'm excited to read it.
Golden State is about an alternate reality to our time set in California where the truth is all that matters and lying can land you in a world of trouble. That is until the truth of a death that happens in the community is covered up by the government. Laszlo an officer of the State for nineteen years with his new partner, a rookie officer, starts questioning everything they thought was true.
It sounded similar to 1984 and I really enjoyed that book, so I thought I would give this one a chance.
Overall I'm excited for this reading month and I can't wait to dive in to these books and give you my thoughts on them.
