All You Desire by: Kirsten Miller, is the second and last book in her Eternal Ones series. The first book follows a girl named Haven, who keeps seeing visions of per past lives, but doesn't realize what they are until she meets a boy who has been searching for her for a long time. Once they are together a love triangle develops, secrets are revealed, and the real question of, can your past truly be left behind, comes into play. It is a very good YA fantasy novel, and I highly recommend it.
This second book takes place a year after the events in the first one, where Haven is now in Europe with her soulmate. Then her best friend is kidnapped and she is forced to go back to New York to save him from the one person she can think of who could do such a thing, Adam. While in New York she meets a group of sisters who are against Adam and are trying very hard to defeat him, at all costs. We learn more about Haven's past lives with Iain and Adam and all the events that occurred in their past.
If you haven't read either book go no further!!! There are spoilers afoot.
My thoughts on the book:
For starters I really enjoyed this book, not as much as the first one, but it's a good second. I am a sucker for soul mates and past lives based stories, so this series was one that sucked me in based on those two factors. That is one of the things I loved about the book as well as the mysterious bits that are a key factor in the plot. I read this book very quickly due to the fact that I couldn't put it down, it was a page turner. I enjoyed Beau's story line and the fact that he had a soulmate in the past as well was like icing on the cake. The forever love triangle between Haven, Iain, and Adam was also delicious; especially when Iain crashes the Society's dinner party and confronts Adam about the Society and sees Haven there with Adam. The drama in that scene was amazing. Another enjoyable part for me was when Haven let Adam kiss her at the end of their "date" and is confused about her feelings for him.
I have been a team Adam fan since the first book, because of his dark and charming self, also because redemption is one of my favorite character arcs in stories. The fact that we got a glimpse of what could've been for him as a good guy was incredible.
What I wasn't a big fan of in this book was the ending! It ended on a cliff hanger, which caused me to check and see if there will be a third book and guess what, there won't be. So frustrating when your favorite character in the duology just vanishes and no one knows where he went to! I have my guesses, but the point it I shouldn't have to guess or make up my own ending, that's not my job as the reader, that's the writer's job and she let us down. Perhaps the point of having it end like that was because it is a never ending cycle with Haven, Adam and Iain, but I still didn't like it.
Another part of the story I really didn't like was Haven's character. If I read her say "We have to save Beau" or just Beau's name again, the book would be going on a little trip in the air. Yes, I get it, Beau is in trouble and his life is on the line, but come on! There was just no reason for her constant whining about Beau. I didn't mind it at first, because the beginning of the book characters are normally naive, whiny and stupid, but in the middle of the book I expect some sort of character development or change, but nope, she just continued being that way throughout the book. Also, she was easily manipulated into doing things, either with or against her conscience. When she was going to do something and had her mind set on it, her mind could be so easily changed by all of the characters and "new" information that at one point my head was spinning trying to keep track of where she truly stood on things.
She was always asking Adam the same questions and accusing him of the same things every single time a bump in the road occurred, as if he was the ONLY person in the entire world with bad intentions. I almost laughed out loud when it turned out to be the sisters who were behind EVERYTHING!!!
I totally ship Haven and Adam and want there to be a 2.5 book to come out about one of their lives together, or maybe even one about the future when she is in a different life and is now with Adam and explains where he went when Haven came back to release him from the cemetery. I think that would be a fun and satisfying story for all of the Adam fans out there.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and I hope you all did too. If you made it this far and also rad this book, then please like, share, and comment down below. Until the next one, happy reading. :)
